Our School

About Us

Located just north the historic Liberty City section of Miami-Dade County, Liberty Academy is an award-winning educational program The leadership and staff of Liberty Academy totally reject the notion that children living in historically underserved areas cannot perform at the highest academic levels. Our goal is to provide students with the academic foundation needed to thrive in the most rigorous academic settings and develop positive character traits that will follow them throughout life.

I. MISSION STATEMENT

The mission Liberty Academy is to ensure the educational success of all students through elevated expectations and a commitment to excellence, and to serve our community by developing character, and social-emotional well-being of our students to their fullest potential. We exist to ensure to that no child in our community is left behind.

II. PHILOSOPHY

Liberty Academy's educational philosophy centers on the child. Our approach is based on the concept of learning to learn. The learning process is fostered through respect for the student as a unique individual. We are committed to helping the student develop a positive self-concept and begin to develop the cognitive, social, and emotional skills necessary for success in the school environment.

While academics are the basis for most activities, we provide students with a solid foundation and opportunity for socialization among peers and adults. Our social times encourage group and individual participation for every student.

Exposure to diverse cultures, national museums and landmarks, and other experiences that are outside of the communities of our students is part of Liberty Academy’s strategy of developing well-rounded students. Our students have taken fieldtrips to Washington, DC, Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Kennedy Space Center. We have fieldtrips planned for New York City and Philadelphia.

Our safe, clean, and modern facility is important to the creation of a healthy learning environment. In addition, our warm and nurturing atmosphere encourages and supports every aspect of student development.

Parents are the most significant adults in a child's life. We strive to create mutual respect between parents and teachers - a partnership for the benefit of the child. We encourage communication between parents and staff.

III. CODE OF CONDUCT

An effective discipline program is essential in the teaching and learning process. The staff at Liberty Academy has established an educational environment in which students can comfortably learn at their own level. Each student has the right to learn and play at Liberty Academy without disruption or antagonism from other students. The staff is committed to teaching and reinforcing appropriate student behavior. Courtesy, respect, and problem-solving strategies are practiced by all staff members and students. Students are encouraged to consistently follow school rules of conduct, set a positive example for others, and always be conscious of how their behavior affects others.

Each student has the responsibility for the consequences of his/her behavior. If your child exhibits unacceptable behavior at school, you may be asked to help us redirect your child to an alternate, appropriate set of behaviors.
